DTECTION AVERTS WATER DISASTERS AT SYMPHONY TOWERS

(San Diego, February, 2009) - Dtection, Inc. reported that Symphony Towers has commended the company for the performance of its water detection systems. Water leaks are not uncommon in commercial buildings. Actual water leaks averted by Dtection in the last six months at Symlphony Towers could have cost thousands of dollars of damage. These are documented below by employees who responded to Dtections alarms:

  1. This was a leak from a water heater. Dtection alarm prevented major damage. The leak would have penetrated down a number of floors if Dtection had not notified personnel.
  2. This was a leak that migrated from the unisex restroom on the 7th floor to the 6th floor storage room. Dtection caught it.
  3. This leak was a urinal overflowing in the 10th floor men’s restroom. Dtection alarm prevented major water damage.
  4. He was informed that a sewer line had backed up through a toilet and was spilling out all over the floor.  The Dtection system worked perfectly..
  5. Domestic water pump had a valve failure.  Dtection alarmed. Water was contained with no major damage.
  6. Urinal overflowed -- security and engineering responded to Dtection alarm preventing any damage
  7. Overflowing sink set off Dtection sensor. The Alarm was responded to quickly and prevented any damage.

DTECTION COMPLETES ANOTHER INSTALLATION AT UCSD

(San Diego, November 12, 2008) - Dtection, Inc., a San Diego based company, Dtection has installed its 5th water detection system into UCSD. This Dtection installation will protect UCSD's prestigious mathematics computer resource facility.

Dtection's installations at UCSD are protectiong some of the most important laboratories in the University system. After the successful performance of Dtection installations at various UCSD locations and its impressive performance during routine test procedures, Dr. Vecchio said that he could now sleep well at night because the Dtection system gives him a certain piece of mind pertaining to his invaluable research equipment. .

During one of the tests, a professor activated a Dtection sensor in order to see the actual response time from the incident until notification reached his cell phone as well as the response/notification time to his researchers. Response was so immediate that although Dtection had notified SRD that this was a test, the FM Team members were already responding.

STATISTICS REVEAL THE IMPORTANCE OF WATER DETECTION

Recent statistics reported by the Environmental Protection Agency and studies performed by the insurance industry indicate that water represents a very costly threat to homeowners.

  • One drip per minute will result in the loss of 7 gallons of water per month resulting in significant water and mold damage.
  • In 2003, insurers paid over $23 billion dollars to correct accidental water damage. In addition, insurers paid out over $3 billion dollars for mold related damages.
  • Many problems start with a slow leak that was undetected for some period of time.
  • If wet or damp areas are not dried within 24 to 48 hours after a leak occurs, mold will grow.

According to the “Wall Street Journal”, water damage is the second highest claim against insurance companies next to weather-related floods. Although the sudden disaster resulting from a water fixture failure (air conditioners, toilets, refrigerators, water heaters, etc.) is the most recognized type of problem, the little leak can be equally disastrous. When slow leaks are finally detected, mold is usually present. And mold remediation is very expensive.

Immediate response to the presence of unwanted water, whether from a major or silent problem, is essential in order to avoid costly damage.
